Motorcycle Road Safety Audit of Hollow Tree Road

The Department of State Growth is pleased to be partnering with the Central Highlands Council to undertake a motorcycle road safety audit of Hollow Tree Road, Bothwell to the Lyell Highway.

Hollow Tree Road is a popular route for both touring and Tasmanian motorcyclists. The road also has a high relative crash rate for motorcyclists, resulting in a number of serious causality crashes.

TMC was invited by state growth to participate in the road audit and workshop.

The Department of State Growth is pleased to be partnering with the Central Highlands Council to undertake
a motorcycle road safety audit of Hollow Tree Road, Bothwell to the Lyell Highway.
Hollow Tree Road is a popular route for both touring and Tasmanian motorcyclists. The road also has a high
relative crash rate for motorcyclists, resulting in a number of serious causality crashes.
Following the Road Audit was a workshop
Those who attending the workshop were:
 Central Highlands Council members
 Nominated Central Highlands Council employees
 Nominated local stakeholders
 Tasmania Police
 State Growth employees
 Expert motorcyclists
As the TMC was unable to attend the road audit on the day, two members travelled to Bothwell
the week before and conducted a road audit which follows.
